TextSeries: Feasibility studyPublication details: English : High School Library,Description: The purpose of this study is to discover an alternative mosquito repellent candle for mosquito coil as it is discovered to have a negative impact on the health of its users. The experiment was done based on the method proposed by Poseidon Group Sciences in testing mosquito repellent candles, which made use of a tunnel with a series of black cloths hanged in it to determine the number of mosquitoes repelled by the candle that was tested with 20 minute intervals. Upon conducting the experiment, it was determined that the most effective concertration of Lemongrass and Calamnsi extract among 25%, 50%, and 75% is the 75%. Moreover, there is no significant difference between the effectiveness of Lemongrass Ligero and Calamnsi Ligero in repelling mosquitoes, thus either of these repellents can be used as an effective mosquito repellent candle. When compared to a commercial scented mosquito coil, it was discovered that the mosquito repellent candles can repel mosquitoes the same as mosquito coils in short ranges since the capacity of the mosquito repellent candles to repel mosquitoes is inversely proportional to the distance. Thus, mosquito coils are found to be more effective in repelling mosquitoes in longer distance as compared to Lemongrass, and Calamansi Ligero since its smoke emissions have more compact particles that enables it to diffuse farther.
