According to the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (2005), Filipinas pride themselves of their beautiful looks, a product of their fine-looking heritage. Even the men have not been spared of the need to look good, in recent years both genders hae become increasingly willing to splurge on beauty skin care products. This need of the consumers to allocate a portion of their time and money to have clear attractive skin gave the researchers an idea to come with a product that will provide the consumers a convenient and effective way to have that beautiful skin by eradicating blemishes without sacrificing too much time, effort and money. Schimo Station is an advocate of beauty and confidence with the aid of eliminating the cause of insecurities - Acnes. It is a freshly established enterprise managed and associated by five business partners, namely, Ms. Kathleen Dahan, Ms. Arela Espiritu, Mr. Miles Inocencio, Mr. John Mark Latoja, and Mr. Christian Vidal. The proposed business is named Schimo Station and its product, Le Veau, is basically an acne solution contained with ingredients that is practically formulated to help dry up and remove acnes. Schimo Station aims to be one of the leading providers of skin care products in the province of Cavite. To be able to achieve the company`s vision, distinct strategies will be conducted such as placing the target location at Silang, Cavite, an emerging rural province that is lowly being invaded by increasing population and numerous infrastractures. The target market are the residents of Silang and the areas near it who has interestsin skin care and beauty products, but Schimo Station`s primary focuses on teenagers and young adults. The capital requisite needed in order to start up the business is P300, 000, which will be equally provided by the business partners. With the results and findings of the study, thereafter, The Schimo Station, specifically Le Veau will be feasible and variable in the market. : | 2 pages text

Place hold on Le Veau /

Sapone De Hyacinth /
<dc:identifier>ISBN:text</dc:identifier>

English : High School Library, .
Hygieia Enterprise Rejuvenata is a personal skin care business. The experiment was done based on the method proposed by Poseidon Group Sciences in testing mosquito repellent candles, which made use of a tunnel with a series of black cloths hanged in it to determine the number of mosquitoes repelled by the candle that was tested with 20 minute intervals. Upon conducting the experiment, it was determined that the most effective concertration of Lemongrass and Calamnsi extract among 25%, 50%, and 75% is the 75%. Moreover, there is no significant difference between the effectiveness of Lemongrass Ligero and Calamnsi Ligero in repelling mosquitoes, thus either of these repellents can be used as an effective mosquito repellent candle. When compared to a commercial scented mosquito coil, it was discovered that the mosquito repellent candles can repel mosquitoes the same as mosquito coils in short ranges since the capacity of the mosquito repellent candles to repel mosquitoes is inversely proportional to the distance. Thus, mosquito coils are found to be more effective in repelling mosquitoes in longer distance as compared to Lemongrass, and Calamansi Ligero since its smoke emissions have more compact particles that enables it to diffuse farther. The research aims to determine if there is significant difference with increasing cassava starch content in the bioplastic, considering the dependent variables: water uptake, tensile strength and level of biodegradability. The study followed an experimental research with increasing cassava starch content, 82%, 44%, and 55%, repectively. The produced starch is then divided into the three setups, each is then put into mixture with 59 ml of water, 15 ml of vinegar and 15 ml of glycerin. The bioplastic is then placed in a frying pan for two minutes, then exposed under the sun for three to four days. Water uptake test used ASTM D570 wherein a 24 hour immersion of the sample in distilled water is conducted at room temperature. Tensile strength test used ASTM D882-09 which is Standard Test Method for Tensile Properties of Thin Palstic Sheeting. Biodegradability test was conducted with the bioplastic smple buried in loam soil for 10 days. Results revealed that there is no significant diffirence between the gained weight percentage of the setups, increasing cassava content poses minimum effect of the water uptake. Meanwhile, there is a significant difference between the tensile strength values of the setups, thus, Setup C with the most cassava starch is the most tensile strength values of the setups, thus, Setup C with the most cassava starch is the most tensile bioplastic. Also, the results showed that there is a difference in biodegradability level of the setups, as cassava content increases, the weight loss decreases. Alongside, compared to the positive controlled corn starch based bioplastic, the cassava starch bioplastic is more tensile at 0.656 Mpa and higher decomposition rate at 66.86% weight loss, but it absorbs more water at 68.70% gained weight. This implies that cassava starch could be utilized as material for catering items like olates, cups, spoons etc. Which are required for short span of time, possess sufficient mechanical strength and after use get easily degrade.: | 1 pages text

Place hold on Development of Bioplastic Material From Starch of Cassava (Manihot esculenta) /

An investigation on the relationship of no homework policy on the academic performance and competency in mathematics of FEU Cavite Grade 11 students in S.Y. 2017-2018 /
<dc:identifier>ISBN:text</dc:identifier>

English : High School Library, .
Thisstudy aims to investigate the relationship of No Homework policy to the academic performance and competency in Mathematics of FEC Silang Grade 11 students in School Year 2017-2018. The controlled group did not have any changes on their curriculum while the uncontrolled or experimental group undergone some changes specifically the removal of homework. The two groups have the same level of difficulties in all of their activities in subject since the instruments were validated by three (3) validators. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using mean, standard deviation, t-test and p-vale. The p-value of the pretest and posttest of the students without homework is .0000 this is the same with the p-value of the pretest and posttest of students without homework. On the other hand, the level of academic competency of students showed a neutral response with the concept of having homework. The results showed that there is no significance relationship between academic performance and academic competency to homework. With this, educators may consider the complete removal of homework in the school system, as this seemed to show that the level of academic performance and competency of the students with or without homwework are just the same. The experiment done by the researchers to determine the effectiveness of the products was an improvise technique which the researchers measured the mass of cloth without stain was subtracted into the mass of the stained cloth to get the removed stain. The researchers used three different concentrations which are 25%, 50%, 75% and as for the stain, the researchers used four different stains which are food, ink, oil and mud stains. Upon conducting the experiment, the most efffective concentration of the pomelo-based organic liquid laundry detergent is the 25% in terms of removing ink and oil stain. In addition, there is significant difference in terms of removing food and mud stains. After comparing the positive and negative control, however, the negative control is the most effective in terms of removing food and ink stains compared to the other two (2) and there is no effective solution on mus stains. Thus, only the 25% concentration of the pomelo-based organic liquid laundry detergent product can be used as an alternative in only removing oil stain in cotton fabric since the product became a natural surfactant as when it was mixed with baking soda. Considering this problem, the researchers decided to create and test the natural termicide made of calamansi peel extract. Researchers obtained calamansi peel oil and mixed the oil with paint thinner to test the effectiveness of four different concentrations of peel oil. Researchers tested the solutions on two termite species called Coptotermes vastator and Nasutitermes Luzonicus. The solutions were tested using two different methods, which were spray method and soil method. Result of the experiment showed that effectiveness of calamansi peel oil solution and conventional termicide are not significantly different. The reason behind of this is that, chemicals that is used by the factories are disponed to surface inland where the citizens bathe, wash, and play with water. Inspite of this, there are equipements or methods invented in order to solve this; studies were only limited to solving household wastes and factories take time in minimizing the contaminants. Te researched titled " Latundan (Musa sapientum) Peel Tea Bags as Absorber of Hexavalent Chromium Cr(VI) in Wastewater coming from Textile Dyeing Factory in Cavite" resolved this gap by making a product titled "Bbags" as another methd that can reduce Hexavalent Chorium content. This study focused on variation and identification of which time gram interval and time interval greatly reduce the Hexavalent Chorium content in wastewater. The crused and stain Latundan peels are placed within a tea bag as another way to filter wastewater. In a Bbags weighing greater than 2 grams, it was observed as a grams increase the amount of Hexaavalent Chorium also increases, but time interval has proven no effect at all. It was concluded that the grams intervals of Bbags have only significant effect on Cr(VI) amount. Also, the optimal gram interval of Bbgas was found to be in two grams having a p-value of 0.025744 which is less than 0.05 alpha level. Despite that, most researchers tackling this topic is limited to the effects of percentage of plastic in the concrete parameters. The research titled, " Optimum Grain Size of Polyprolyene as Partial Replacement for fine Aggregate in Concrete Hollow Blocks." resolved this gap by exploring the possible effects of grain size on the fresh and strength parameters of concrete hallow blocks. Particularly, it focused on the workability of the concrete mixture and the compressive strength of the hollow blocks. The Polyprolyene pellets were ground using crogenic methods and subtituted in the fine aggregate of the blocks. At four percent (4%) substitution, it was observed that as the grain size decreases, the compressive strength of the blocks increases significally, while the workability reteined. It was concluded that the grain size of Polyprolyene has only have an effect on the compressive strength of hollow blocks. Many everyday objects such as grocery bags, sachets, and food packaging are some of the functions of plastic. However, plastic has also contributed to multiple flooding and its improper disposal has caused marine animals to mistakenly think of it as food. Scientists have discovered a way to lessen the chance to poisoning marine animals as well as the ecosystem and the land through creating biodegradable plasctic also known as bio plastic. This paper specifically aims to create a bioplastic made out of tapioca starch which will be reinforced with Saccharum spontaneum Linn., also localy known as talahib, to find out how effective talahib starch as a reinforcement in terms of tensile strength and biodegradability, and which treatment with varying percentage of talahib tarch is more effective in terms of tensil strength and biodegradability. Results show that when the amount of talahib starch increased, the tensile strength also increased, therefore failing to reject the null hypothesis of no significantdifferences. The amount of talahib starch also affected the biodegradability of the bioplastic. When the amount of talahib starch increased, its biodegradability also quickened, hence failing to reject the null hypothesis as well. Thus, Treatment C (22% of talahib starch) proved to be effective in terms of tensile strength and biodegradability.: | 1 pages text

Place hold on Effectiveness of talahib (Saccharum spontaneum Linn.) as reinforcement to tapioca bioplastic /

Biolard: The development of biodiesel from pork lard with ethanol blend as a generator engines' alternative fuel. /
<dc:identifier>ISBN:text</dc:identifier>

By STEM.
English : High School Library, .
The Philippines has been reliant on fossil fuels, and due to the wide dependence on this energy source, fossil fuels tend to contribute to the depletion of the natural environment. And as long as it continues, they are also getting higher riak to be exposed in some of the possible effect on of Bisphenol A. That is why the researchers came up with an idea to develop a chitosan-based bioplastic that contains Bisphenol A. This study aimed to produce bioplastic food packaging utilizing the chitosan to provide a good alternative solution. The methods for this study cnsisted of mixing, heating and testing. The chitosan mixed by the other variables like vinegar and glucerin. It is heated at a temperature of 75 degrees Celsius. The produced bioplastic had undergone test such as tensile strength, teat resistence, and biodegradability to measure some of the physical properties and compare it to the other exsisting product. It negatively impacts on the society affecting the health of the world`s population and economy of every country. Many inventions and methods of the world`s population and the economy of every country. Many inventions and methods were employed to minimize the effects and lessen the percentage of contaminated bodies of water. The most common innovation that has been internationally used are water purifiers which are commonly composed of sediments, papers, pebbles, sand and charcoals. This study utilizes peels of the banana fruit as a component of a water filter. Bananas have been proven to have medicinal properties as it is used in various ailments and health-related problems. Based on these proven medical properties, this research focuses on the identifying whether banana peels could be effective in purifing the water from bacteria specifically Musa sapientum (Latundan Banana) can make water potable through the process of filtration. The peels were dried for two (2) days and then chopped into pieces. A paper filter was put at the bottom of the strainer and the banana peels were put at the top. Water was poured inside the strainer only once and then collected directly by a jar underneath. Different setups had different amounts of banana peels. They are 10 grams, 15 grams and 20 grams respectively in each setup which underwent 3 trials each. The samples were brought to a water testing lab in Trece Martines, Cavite including the unpurified water sample from a chosen stream in Silang, Cavite. The water samples were tested for their portability in comparison to the amount of Coliform present in the water sample. The results of the test done on the water samples show that the banana peels were not effective in making the stream water potable. All water samples had high amounts of Coliform and Fecal Coliform. The research concludes that banana peels in amounts of 10 grams, 15 grams and 20 grams cannot purify water from Coliform and Feall Coliform and therefore cannot make potable. Its specific objectives were to; determine the effectiveness of ClutchIt in charging a smartphone; compare the variable of ClutchIt to the performance of an ordinary power bank; and identify the efficiency it ClutchIt itself. This study used an experimental design in conducting the research. The researchers invented a product to be tested named it ChutChIt. They also used five (5) different test batteries with 1, 400 mAh each, a test phone and a 1, 500 mAh power bank for the experimental purpose. As a result, the product discharges due to inconsistent clutching but somehow remains its charge and does not gain some. In comparison to a power bank, there was a significant difference between the two products since the power bank still performs better. In its overall efficiency, the product was efficient for it prolong battery life. Overall, the numbers of cluthes set by the researchers were all effective showing that ClutchIt was ineffective in gaining charge but instead was effective in prolonging battery life. ClutchIt was overall efficient since it was cheap can be used as a life prolonging device during emergencies. The study is purposely to create an alternative solution about the problem of light source during power outrage with the use of common household materials. Particullary, the study focused on the effect of a component, the used Canola oil, to the product, "Ignis", where the used oil serves as the fuel. The researchers conducted an experiment of the product containing different used oils namely oil used to cook poultry (Oil A) and used to cook pork (Oil B) to measure is duration and amount consumed where the product that had more amount of oil can last more. Also, the different volumes of oil would only result to different amount consumption where the least amount consumes the greatest. Even when acquiring unequal means in separate results of Oil A and Oil B, still, equal means were acquired when compared to each other indicating that there is no significant difference between the duration of Oil A and Oil B. The research was carried out to suggest a solution for the issue by developing a bay and guava leaf-based mouthwash as an antimicrobal and teeth whitening agent while also testing and postive control group as a basis for the researcher`s experimentation. This experimental study has four set up: set A for 10 grams of bay and guava-leaf extract, set B for 20 grams of bay and guava-leaf extract, positive control group (Listerine) and negative contorl group (disyilled water). The test for the whitening effectivity and inhibition agaisnt Staphylococcus aureus on each set up was observed; this experimentation was conducted by the Department of Science and Technology. This stufy revealed that bay and guava leaf-based mouthwash bear no noticeable effect on the whiteness of the teeth with having zero F-value the same qith the negative control group while the positive control group has the most change in color. Moreover, it is properties as its reactivity rating is two and ussing different amount of extracts did not matter as they bore the same effects when it came to antimicrobal properties.
